Na Zdrowie - to your health!

I have really been fretting about how to get this started and what I want it to be. I have decided to stop fretting and start typing.

We are a family that really likes food. It is not enough to eat it; we like to read about it, talk about it, cook it and try to convert others to our way of thinking. I come from a long line of really good cooks - and one of my great thrills is that I have raised two children who are good cooks.

Everyone knew my Grandmother Roach was a good cook and it was a delight to go somewhere with her to witness the 'buzz' that started when she presented her dish. All those around wanted to check out "what Susie made". Some of my favorites that she prepared were her chicken & dumplings, blackberry cobbler, butterscotch pie, maraschino cherry cake, and her fried chicken & fixings. She also liked to try new things and I remember very clearly the year that the "Tunnel of Fudge" cake won the Pillsbury bake-off and introduced Grandma to the Bundt pan. She was so excited with that new pan and with that recipe.

So, I am starting this as a celebration of the things we like to eat. But it is also a celebration of the times we have had together that are centered around food. Memories, recipes & discussions of what to try next and how to make it better.

Let's give it a try, shall we? Na zdrowie!
